painting was my first Star
Trek model kit cover. I had done some other Trek work in 1993
for Task Force Games. This was the original cover for AMT/ERTL's
model. As usual with AMT/ERTL, this one also has a story. The
art director had me supply sketches and he selected this wings
up version. When the kit came out, I looked into one of my sample
boxes and read the instructions, only to find that of the three
wing positions the ship uses, they only had the energy to bother
making parts to do wings down and wings horizontal. Not up! They
even made a joke about it in the instruction sheet.
Well, other than that, it is
a reasonable kit. I would recommend it.
